Today we present you a 2011 LP from a Philadelphia- based young gun called Gilbere Forte. The stylish, yet humble-looking Forte proves to be a beast behind the mic, I conclude after the very first listening to the LP. It was, unfortunately, a bit disappointing after assuming I would hear more "intelligent" from a guy that looks that classy to hear rather "overused" subjects in hip hop. However, soon after the initial disappointment I realised the album's real personality as an easy-going, well-produced, hot-beats-party rap. And that's where it all works. "Poppin' Bottles," for example, was on repeat for 3-4 days straight in my Winamp purely due to it's bass-heavy instrumental. If you rather like mainstream- influenced rap, Gilbere Forte is definitely a choice for you and even if you enjoy rather complicated subjcects and lyrics, listen to it anyway even just for the awesome beats and decent featuring artists, including Bun B, Asher Roth, Pusha T, The Kickdrums and others. Gilbere Forte is, however, a name to be remembered by everybody interested in hip hop, because this dude is set to start making it big.
